Massive queues formed for the launch of a new Bristol cafe owned by Bristol Bears stars Jake Heenan and Luke Morahan.
The team behind Burra shared a video showing the huge queues of people waiting for free coffees on the opening morning of the new branch in Clifton Village.
Posting to Instagram Burra captioned the video: “Busy mornings at Burra, Clifton Village”, alongside a sweating face emoji.
BristolLive reported back in February that the local brand would be opening its third venue in the city, at The Mall at Clifton Village.
The local independent, which is known for its dog-friendly venues, Antipodean brunches and community spirit, also boasts two sites in Redland and Bedminster.
Jake and Luke run the business alongside their partners Adele and Madison, and they’ve just taken over what was formerly Bar Chocolat.
To celebrate the new opening, as they had done before at the launch of their North Street location, the team were giving away free coffees to every customer who visited between 8am and 12pm on Saturday, March 8.
When they announced it, they said: “If it’s anything like our free coffee morning at North Street, it’s going to be big.”
And, from the video posted to the Burra Instagram page on the opening day, it was.
The queue could be seen out the door, continuing down the street, spanning several neighbouring buildings.
Jake told BristolLive ahead of the new opening: “We’re really trying to bring restaurant quality ingredients, restaurant quality products, and probably most importantly, restaurant quality service.
“As part of our list of principles, which are written on our blackboards, we’re trying to be a really positive force in the community and trying to bring not just a good product, but a really good feeling.
“We want people to feel like they’re coming into a home and feel really welcome and looked after.
“That’s what we’re trying to bottle up and give people. We exist to serve the community and we’re really hoping we can now bring that to Clifton Village and do that for the people there.”
