Emergency services remain at the scene of a crash reportedly involving a car and a van on the M5. A collision has occurred this afternoon, March 16, before Sedgemoor Services along the southbound carriageway between junction 21 and junction 22.

It was reported to police at 1.45pm. Initially the road was closed and traffic was at a standstill.

Travel news alert service Inrix has been reporting queues for five miles and delays of up to 30 minutes long. Inrix says a car and a van were involved in an accident and that the van has left the carriageway and ‘come to rest in a ditch’.
