A woman has been branded a ‘genius’ after her four-ingredient hack for removing tough carpet stains went viral.
TikTok sensation Chantel Mila, known to her 1.5million followers as @mama_mila_, shared her clever method online, earning praise and gratitude from many. To tackle the stains, she advises vacuuming the area before applying a DIY cleaning concoction.
The mixture includes one cup of warm water, 1/4 cup of white vinegar for deodorising and cleaning, two tablespoons of salt to lift the stains from the carpet fibres, and four drops of your preferred essential oil to leave a fresh scent.
After spraying the solution on the stained spot, she dabs it with a clean microfibre cloth. She explains: “This powerful mix lifts carpet stains and leaves your home smelling fresh.” Viewers have been quick to express their appreciation in the comments. One impressed user posted: “Just tried this! Really worked.” Another added their thanks: “Thanks sis. Just used your concoction on a barbecue sauce spill on my white carpet and it worked like a dream.”
A third was eager to try it out: “Can’t wait to try this on my cream carpet!” And yet another satisfied user commented: “Just used this on my carpet and it worked so well! Thank you so much. I used lemon essential oil and eucalyptus! Smells amazing.”
It comes after another TikTok user shared a simple oven cleaning method. The woman, known as @we-built-our-home on TikTok, showcased her technique for deep cleaning her oven, claiming it makes a “satisfying” difference. First, she showed the state of her oven before cleaning, revealing burnt food at the bottom and a greasy glass door.
She then advised baking lemon in water for 15-20 minutes to steam the oven and loosen grime. Next, she mixed a “magic cleaning potion” of two cups of warm water, one cup of white vinegar, 1/2 cup of washing-up liquid, and an optional 1/4 cup of bicarbonate of soda. After emptying and cooling the oven, she applied the solution, letting it work its “magic” for 5-10 minutes.
Her advice is to “scrub with all the tools you own and like your life depends on it. More bicarbonate of soda and lemon to get those tough bits of grime off. Scrub the pre-sprayed (with portion) or ideally soaked trays.”
“Looks so good again,” she said, using more bicarbonate of soda and lemon to tackle tough grime. She also recommends scrubbing pre-sprayed or soaked trays, resulting in a like-new appearance.
