A man is currently fighting for his life in hospital after an ‘Xl Bully’ dog attacked him in his back garden.
Emergency services arrived at the scene on Ripon Drive, West Bromwich, at 4.40pm yesterday after receiving reports of a dog attack.
Officers from a specialised dog unit used a taser to subdue the animal, which is believed to be the banned breed.
The dog died after being tasered.

The injured man was treated by paramedics at the scene before being taken to hospital.
A cordon has been placed around the property, and first aid paraphernalia can be seen scattered across the garden.
A woman who said she is familiar with the victim, said that there were three XL Bully dogs at the house, with two being in a cage.
.”He was attacked by 1 of them as he was feeding. They were in his property but he wasn’t their owner,” she claimed on social media.

In a statement, West Midlands Police said: “We were called to reports of a dog attack at an address on Ripon Drive, West Bromwich, at around 4.40pm today.
“A man has received serious injuries after being attacked in a garden at the back of the property. Our colleagues from the ambulance service gave him treatment at the scene before he was transported to hospital.
“The dog was Tasered by specialist officers from our dog unit but died at the scene. There is no wider threat to the community. We realise incidents of this nature are concerning to the community so we will have extra officers in the area tonight to offer reassurance.

Last month, a teenager was killed by a suspected XL bully dog at a flat in Bristol.
Morgan Dorsett, 19, from Shropshire died at the scene following the attack, which saw emergency services rush to the scene.
The dog believed to be responsible for the fatal attack has since been put down.
