Police in west Belfast have arrested two men following reports of criminal damage and assault.

The incident occurred in the Glen Road area on Friday 14 March.

The PSNI said it received a number of reports just before 5pm yesterday that two men had damaged a vehicle after leaving licensed premises.

Local policing Inspector Adams said: “It was further reported that whilst in the licensed premises they ordered food and then refused to pay before becoming disorderly, setting off a fire alarm and causing damage. They also attempted to steal an item of clothing.

“The owner of the damaged vehicle followed the two men to the Lenadoon area, where an altercation occurred. The vehicle owner sustained serious facial injuries and further cuts and abrasions to his body during an ensuing assault.

“Two men matching the description provided by the vehicle owner were located nearby by officers.

“The men, added 25 and 21 years old, were arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, two counts of criminal damage, possession of an offensive weapon in a public place, disorderly behaviour in licensed premises, attempted theft and possession of Class C controlled drugs. They remain in custody at this time.

Inspector Adams continued: “We are committed to making our local community a safer place to live and work. Our investigation is continuing and I would encourage anyone with information to contact police on 101, quoting reference number 1211 of 14/03/25.”
