A 31-year-old man is accused of deliberately setting fire to a home in the Beaches last month.

Toronto Police say officers responded to a call for a fire in the area of Queen St. E. and Woodbine Ave. around 2 a.m. on Feb. 27.

It is alleged that a man went to the “vacant home,” set fire to it “using an accelerant and then fled the area, Const. Viktor Sarudi said in a statement released Saturday.

An investigation was conducted by 55 Division officers – in coordination with the Office of the Fire Marshal and Toronto Fire Services – and a suspect was subsequently identified.

Harjot Bhandaal was arrested on Thursday.

The Brampton man is charged with wearing a disguise with intent, break-and-enter with intent, possession of incendiary material, and arson with disregard for human life.
