A new convenience store from a major supermarket is set to open on one of Bristol’s most iconic roads.
Waitrose has confirmed that it will open a new ‘Little Waitrose’ convenience shop at 1-3 Gloucester Road, in St Andrews.
The store will take over the former unit which was last used by Future Leap, a co-working space which closed at the end of January.
Waitrose currently has two stores in Bristol, in Westbury Park and in Clifton.
A Waitrose spokesperson said: “We have wanted to open a shop in St Andrews for a long time and can’t wait to welcome local people to enjoy the great food and service we pride ourselves on. We look forward to sharing more news when we can.”
An opening date for the new store has not been confirmed yet but details will be shared at a later date.
Various new ventures on Gloucester Road have opened in recent months as the iconic Bristol high street has changed in several ways.
In November, Mexican restaurant El Diablo opened its doors to the public, earning an immediate following with some describing the restaurant as “serving the best tacos”.
The following month, School Of Espresso, a coffee shop where it doesn’t sell a cup of coffee, would open its doors. It sells coffee machines rather than the drink itself.
In addition, new cafes have been announced for Gloucester Road, including one with a co-working space.
The Key Cafe will open next month, which is a café run and built by former prisoners.
