Sam Thompson has confessed to feeling lonely following his breakup with reality TV star Zara McDermott. The 32-year-old shared his emotions with friend Pete Wicks on the Staying Relevant podcast, which he co-hosts with the former Strictly Come Dancing contestant.
During a conversation about Joe’s potential vasectomy and the impact of having four children, Sam unexpectedly revealed how he was feeling following his split with Zara. He admitted: “I’m just lonely”. He also expressed his desire to have four kids, prompting Pete, 37, to comment that Sam had undergone a “glow up” but seemed uncertain about his life.
Since Sam and Zara’s decision to break-up in December 2024, there has been intense scrutiny of their individual well-being, with rumors circulating about Sam’s mental health and Zara’s dating life.
Regarding his mental health, Sam recently opened up on his podcast about coping with the situation, particularly at events where both he and Zara were in attendance. His somber tone prompted fans to reach out and offer their support, reports the Mirror.
According to The Sun, fans not only rallied around Sam but also praised Pete for being supportive. One fan commented: “Oh Sam! ! ! You looked and sounded so sad! ! ! I really feel for you my lovely, you are such a wonderful human and normally keep everyone so upbeat, but this was so sad to see, I really wanted to give you a big hug!”
Sam has also found a friend in Marvin Humes, the former JLS star, who reportedly offered his support during tough times. Sam shared: “He wanted to check in with me and make sure I was ok because he knew everything had been a bit s*** recently. He took the time on a Monday evening to take the time away from his wife and kids to spend time with me, I almost shed a tear.”
While Sam receives empathy, intrigue swirls around Zara’s current romantic links. The Metro reported that theLove Island alum and documentary creator might be romantically entangled with ex-One Direction member Louis Tomlinson.
Speculation of sparks between Zara and the 33-year-old musician fired up on Reddit, further fuelled when fans noticed Zara and Louis followed each other social media.
However, not all are convinced this is proof of a budding romance. One sceptic remarked: “Obviously, following a person on Instagram doesn’t mean that people are in a relationship, lol, But, I just find it weird, and I am scared that this will be a new stunt.
“Especially since I’ve read about them many times. Louis is having a concert in London today, and I’m just waiting for Zara to be spotted there or that she post a story from the concert.”
