River Island shoppers love a £36 bag that could rival Jimmy Choo’s iconic Bon Bon bags. The designer label is known for its luxury accessories range, including glitzy bucket bags. Yet, with a price tag of over £4,000, Jimmy Choo’s stunning Bon Bon bags are unaffordable for many. But there’s good news for those hitting the high street in search of something similar.
River Island has stepped up with a lookalike that’s causing quite a stir among shoppers. River Island’s lineup includes the Multicoloured Embellished Floral Bucket Bag, Cream Droplet Bucket Bag, and Green Embellished Bucket Bag, all priced at £36. There are no reviews of the bags on River Island’s website. But, two of the bags were featured in a recent viral video shared by TikTok duo @Charleyandbiagio.
The fashion lovers shared their favourite summer picks from River Island, writing: “The perfect Ibiza finds in River Island.” The video received over 100,000 views and 14,000 likes.
Someone replied: “I fear I need that first bag.” A second praised: “Wow the colours,” prompting @Charleyandbiagio to reply: “Especially in the first bag.” Someone penned: “Omgggg,” and another said: “I’d be buying the whole store.”
A different viewer wrote: “That will be £189 for the bag please.” When @Charleyandbiagio shared the Multicoloured Embellished Floral Bucket Bag’s £36 price tag, they added: “Oh wow!! Not bad price at all! Okay you have convinced me I’ll go River Island.”
Someone else commented: “Jimmy Choo [alternative].” The eagle-eyed shopper didn’t specify which bag they were talking about, but they could have easily been talking about Jimmy Choo’s Bon Bon bags. The majority of comments were positive, with hardly any negative comments, meaning genuine feedback is limiting.
Much like its high-end counterpart, River Island’s bucket bags dazzle with sparkles. However, the differences between the bags are worth noting, despite both sharing similar silhouettes.
Jimmy Choo’s luxury bag has a hotfix crystal embellishment with a hand-finished crystal bracelet handle. The Italian-made bag also boasts a metal tassel closure with Jimmy Choo engraving. The colours and prints also vary from brand to brand.
For instance, the Green Embellished Bucket Bag is inspired by visual artist Joe Horner. River Island shoppers can click and collect from the store for free. Otherwise, standard delivery costs £4 unless you spend over £50. If you order by 10pm, you can also opt for Next and Nominated Day delivery for £6. However, several Trustpilot users claim they’ve experienced issues with delivery.
