Peter Crouch left ITV viewers in stitches after an unintentional innuendo about his wife Abbey Clancy during Cheltenham Festival coverage.

The former England striker made the gaffe whilst appearing as a guest on day two of the prestigious horse racing event.

Crouch, a known racing enthusiast, was in the ITV booth ahead of the Rachael Blackmore-ridden Air of Entitlement’s victory in the opening Novices’ Hurdle.

What started as a simple question about his equestrian experience quickly descended into an awkward moment that has since gone viral on social media.

The footballer-turned-pundit’s comments left both himself and presenter Oli Bell struggling to maintain composure.

The exchange began when Bell asked Crouch if he had ever ridden a horse.

“Yes. I’ve been on a few horses, yeah. Abbey [Clancy, his wife] likes to ride…” Crouch replied, before quickly adding: “Horses.”

The unintended innuendo immediately caused both men to lose their composure.

Crouch then compounded the humour by adding: “I’ve been thrown off a couple of times!”

Bell, still struggling to maintain his composure, swiftly concluded: “Okay, well we’ll leave it at that!”

The clip was later shared on ITV’s official Twitter account, further amplifying the comedic moment.
