The Premier League rolls on this weekend, not to mention the Carabao Cup final, and it’s shaping up to be another cracker.

Nine league matches stretch from Saturday afternoon to Sunday night and I’m joined by Spurs icon Clive Allen – still the club’s single-season record goal scorer with 49 in 1986-87 – to unpack it all.

This season’s been a rollercoaster, hasn’t it? Liverpool running away with it, Nottingham Forest defying gravity in third, and the likes of Southampton and Leicester scraping the barrel. The unpredictability’s what keeps us glued – and this weekend’s got more twists in store.

Here’s how Clive and I see it playing out. Strap in!

Everton vs. West Ham (3:00 PM)
Clive: 1-0 | Paul: 2-1
Everton are unbeaten in five under David Moyes, and with that new stadium gleaming on the horizon, Goodison’s buzzing. West Ham, though? You never know which version shows up. Clive’s backing Everton’s home form and confidence for a narrow win; I see them edging it too, but with a bit more flair – 2-1. A great time to be a Toffees fan, isn’t it?

Ipswich vs. Nottingham Forest (3:00 PM)
Clive: 0-1 | Paul: 1-2
Ipswich (18th, fighting relegation) face a Forest side (third, 51 points) who stunned Man City last week. Clive’s calling a tight 1-0 for Forest, praising their defensive grit and counter-attacking nous. I’m giving Ipswich a goal – they’ll scrap at Portman Road – but Forest’s spirit and form are unreal. 2-1 to the surprise package of the season.

Manchester City vs. Brighton (3:00 PM)
Clive: 1-0 | Paul: 1-1
City (fifth, 47 points) are maddeningly inconsistent, while Brighton (seventh, 46 points) are on a four-game win streak, with Danny Welbeck rolling back the years. Clive’s leaning on City’s experience to nick it; I’m sitting on the fence – Brighton’s quick, classy play could snatch a point. 1-1 feels right.

Southampton vs. Wolves (3:00 PM)
Clive: 1-1 | Paul: 2-0 Wolves
Southampton (20th, nine points) are a shambles – fragile and result-shy. Wolves (17th, 23 points) are scrapping to climb clear of the drop. Clive’s generous, seeing a draw; I’m not – Wolves have enough to win comfortably. 2-0, and Southampton’s misery deepens.

Bournemouth vs. Brentford (5:30 PM)
Clive: 2-0 | Paul: 2-1
Bournemouth haven’t won in five but impressed Clive against Spurs with their pace and progressive play. Brentford’s form is patchy. He’s going 2-0 at home; I’ll tweak it to 2-1 – Brentford might nick one, but Bournemouth’s due a result.

Arsenal vs. Chelsea (2:00 PM)
Clive: 2-1 | Paul: 2-1
A London derby with Arsenal (second) buoyed by their Champions League run – Real Madrid next month! – and Chelsea (fourth) unpredictable as ever. We’re aligned: 2-1 to the Gunners. Clive reckons the Real clash keeps the club alive; I just think they’ve got too much for Chelsea right now.

Fulham vs. Tottenham (4:30 PM)
Clive: 1-1 | Paul: 2-0 Fulham
Fulham (10th, 42 points) host Spurs (13th, 33 points) after a Europa League clash with AC Milan on Thursday – we’re assuming a win there, fingers crossed! Clive’s calling a draw, citing a tough week; I’m harsher – Fulham’s solidity could expose Spurs’ woes. 2-0, and don’t tell the Tottenham faithful I said it!

Leicester vs. Manchester United (7:00 PM)
Clive: 0-1 | Paul: 0-2
Leicester can’t buy a goal, while United – amid £2 billion stadium talk – are a shadow of their past. Clive sees a tight United win; I’m doubling it to 2-0. Both agree: Leicester’s performances aren’t translating, and United scrape by.

Carabao Cup Final: Liverpool vs. Newcastle (Wembley, 4:00 PM)
Clive: 2-1 | Paul: 2-0
Liverpool, league leaders, haven’t lost to Newcastle in a decade. The Magpies, 70 years without a major domestic trophy (sorry, Fairs Cup fans!), miss Anthony Gordon to suspension. Clive’s got Liverpool edging it; I see a comfy 2-0 – Trent Alexander-Arnold’s absence won’t dent them as much as Gordon’s does Newcastle. Reds lift the cup.

Talking Point: Arsenal’s Real Madrid Mindset

With Arsenal facing Real Madrid in the Champions League next month, Clive reckons it’s front and centre – but in a good way, keeping the club buzzing. I wonder if it might distract from the league, but with Liverpool 15 points clear, maybe it’s a blessing. Thoughts?

Final Thoughts

Clive’s loving Forest’s spirit and Brighton’s unpredictability; I’m just stunned by this season’s chaos. Liverpool cruising, Southampton sinking, and a cup final to cap it off – what a weekend.

Enjoy the footie, folks – we’ll catch you next time.

Cheers from Paul and Clive.
