Grace, a nail technician and Instagram influencer with 34,000 followers, opens up about their bond in touching scenes.

‘We met when we were 17,’ reveals Connie in the documentary. ‘I think we knew me through mutual friends so I think he probably had his eye on me.’

‘When you know how much someone wants something and you know that’s someone’s dream, you just feel so proud,’ she says.

Despite his rising fame, Grace insists Palmer remains grounded.

The documentary captures an endearing moment as the footballer holds a white flower like a microphone, encouraging Connie to sing.

In another scene, Palmer cautiously tries bread dipped in oil and balsamic vinegar.

Connie warns he won’t enjoy it, and true to her prediction, he recoils with an ‘ew!’ that leaves her laughing.

‘Cole now is still the same Cole that I met when I was 17,’ she reflects in the film.

‘Obviously, he’s changed, he’s grown up, and his life now is completely different, but he’s still the same boy, he’s still laid-back Cole,’ Connie continues.

She admires his authenticity despite his rising profile.

Palmer was born in Wythenshawe, Manchester, in 2002 to parents Marie and Jermaine.

He grew up with two older sisters and idolised Wayne Rooney as a child.

His football journey began at just eight years old when Manchester City scouts spotted his talent.

Palmer progressed through City’s academy system before making his first-team debut in September 2020.

After developing at his hometown club, the midfielder made a bold career move in 2023.

He joined Chelsea in a £42.5million transfer, signing a seven-year contract with the London club.

The move represented a significant geographical and cultural shift for the Manchester-raised footballer.

In the documentary, Palmer speaks candidly about adjusting to life in the capital.

‘Going from Wythenshawe to meeting people in Chelsea, it’s different ends of the spectrum,’ he admits.

He notes the cultural differences between his hometown and London.

‘The accent, the size of it, the people. No one knows each other in London because it’s so big.’

Palmer also says he misses the community spirit of Manchester, even though he’s happy living in London.

‘Even on my road, if that was Wythenshawe, people would be stood in the garden in pyjamas and that, you know what I mean? Just chatting to each other and having a cup of tea.’
