Chris Eubank Jr has revealed to his father that he threw an egg at Conor Benn because he felt outnumbered during their fight launch.

The 35-year-old Brighton middleweight explained his actions came after seeing Benn flanked by both his legendary father Nigel and promoter Eddie Hearn.

“It’s me alone, dad, so that’s what I thought I would do and I have justified it,” Eubank Jr told his father during their conversation.

The incident occurred at the Manchester launch of their April 26 bout at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Eubank Jr, who typically conducts himself with the same decorum as his father, reached boiling point and cracked under pressure.

The egg-throwing surprised his father, who questioned the behaviour.

“It’s not behaviour I understand. Where did that come from?” the retired fighter asked on his Call Chris Eubank channel.

Eubank Sr has been vocal in his opposition to the fight, refusing to support the April 26 clash at Spurs.

He correctly predicted the original 2022 bout would be cancelled after Benn failed one of two VADA drug tests that summer.

The two-weight world champion, 58, has declined to help promoters capitalise on his iconic 1990s rivalry with Nigel Benn.

“Dad he is a cheat and we are promoting the fight,” Eubank Jr explained to his father about the egg incident, it’s claimed.

The strained relationship between Eubank Jr and his father began around 2020.

This was when the second-generation fighter decided he no longer wanted his father to manage him.

“I got pulled in and yes I premeditated it because they keep telling me, ‘My dad doesn’t like me,'” Eubank Jr revealed during their conversation about the egg incident.

The once-close boxing duo have been at odds since this professional split.

The family dynamic was further damaged in 2021 by tragedy.

Son and brother Sebastian Eubank died of a heart attack in Dubai.

This devastating loss crippled the already fragile relationship with grief.

The death came at a time when father and son were already experiencing professional distance.

Eubank Jr made an emotional appeal to his father during an interview with Piers Morgan.

“I’m here. I’m getting ready for the biggest fight of my life,” he said.

“If you want to be next to me, like his father’s next to him, we can do it together.”

He added: “He’s my old man. It doesn’t matter if I don’t talk to him until the day I die. I’m always gonna love him.”

Despite his son’s appeal, Eubank Sr appears unwilling to change his stance on the upcoming bout.

“As far as I know, he doesn’t want this fight to go ahead,” Eubank Jr admitted during the Morgan interview.

The infamously tough former champion has not given his blessing to the Spurs clash.

However, the article notes that Sr “seems unwilling to budge – yet,” suggesting the door may not be completely closed.
