From Olympics to Super Bowls to virtually all of the major sporting events around the globe, Arash Madani has been a reliable and professional broadcasting voice for a generation of Canadian fans.

That era of stellar work and a vast resume carved at Rogers Sportsnet has come to a halt, however, with word on Thursday that he has been let go by the network.

“After 16 incredible years, my time at Sportsnet has come to an end,” Madani wrote in a post on X Thursday morning. “And honestly, what a thrilling ride.

“It’s never been lost on me that a first generation Canadian growing up in Truro, Nova Scotia was able to live out his dream covering all of these (major events) on national television.”

Working with the network since 2009, Madani was trusted with all manner of important assignments, from his work as an on-air reporter as part of the  Blue Jays broadcast crew, to Hockey Night In Canada, the NBA, NFL and one of his true passions, tennis.

“We all understand what we sign up for in a volatile industry where change is the constant and I had been able to avoid it until now,” Madani wrote. “While disappointed, appreciate the run and all that’s come with it.”

A proud Nova Scotian, Madani has always relished interactions with those from his home province.

“Maybe what meant the most over the years were the number of Maritimers and those of Middle Eastern descent who would stop to tell me how much they appreciated how I represented them when they’d see me on air,” Madani wrote. “The biggest lessons I’ve learned here: You never know the impact you can have on those around you.

“Looking forward to what’s next and being on your screens down the road.”
