King Charles will be relieved that Donald Trump intends to invite the Ukrainian President for another meeting in the White House, according to a royal commentator.

The 76-year-old monarch hosted Zelensky at Sandringham estate previously this month and plans to welcome Trump on an ‘unprecedented’ second state visit to the UK.

Royal commentator Richard Fitzgerald told GB News that King Charles has been “concerned about the war and about Russian aggression in the region for years.”

He added: “The King will undoubtedly be relieved that Ukraine and the United States appear, at the moment anyway, to be on the same page.”

The royal expert told the People’s Channel: “The monarch has good relations with Trump, he kept in touch by hand written-letters after he met him during his state visit in 2019.

“It is now pivotal that Anglo-American friendship be strengthened by planning his second, historic state visit.”

Fitzwilliam’s suggests that the visit will most likely take place at his Scottish residency, Balmoral.

The US President will become the first elected political leader in modern times to be hosted for two State Visits by a British monarch after Trump accepted an invitation from King Charles.

Trump’s planned meeting with Zelensky comes just a fortnight after their astonishing Oval Office showdown.

On Tuesday, the US President told reporters “we want to get the Ukraine war over with” and “get this show on the road”.

Zelensky’s invitation follows the acceptance of the US proposal to a 30-day ceasefire across the Black Sea, as well as the frontline.

The President has announced that he hopes the Kremlin accepts the terms of the deal, and will speak with Vladimir Putin today or tomorrow.

The royal expert also highlighted that the King will be particularly concerned with the “situation in Canada” where Charles is head of state.

The US President has repeatedly suggested that Canada could become the 51st US state, removing King Charles from head of state.

Trump previously said: “What I’d like to see – Canada become our 51st state.”

This suggestion has been widely criticised by Canadians, including by newly elected Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, who supports the independence of the nation.
