During a recent episode of Good Morning Britain, Ed Balls was momentarily lost for words. The ITV star and his colleague Susanna Reid were chatting with Lorraine Kelly about what to expect on her programme later that day.

Lorraine remarked: “You know, the big giant conversation that you’ve all got to have with each other about what happens to you once you’re away. Once you’ve died. We’ve got Claer talking about this, and Dr Amir, you have to get a folder-“.

Susanna swiftly interrupted Lorraine to mention she already has a book on the topic. The Scottish presenter responded: “See, I knew you would have a book!”

The Good Morning Britain star elaborated on her book, which details arrangements for when she dies. She added: saying: “It says where everything is. Not passwords, that’s separate and protected.”

Lorraine then asked if Susanna’s family knew her wishes regarding funeral plans. Susanna assured that her preferences are known and urged viewers: “Please do a will as well.”

Ed, however, was taken aback by her level of preparedness. He exclaimed: “Nobody told me this!” Although Lorraine was quick to echo Susanna’s advice on wills, reports the Manchester Evening News.

She said: “Even if you think you’ve not got that much to leave. Make sure everybody knows what you want. So that’s what we’re going to be talking about, difficult thing to talk about.”

Earlier in the week, Lorraine had to apologise after an on-air gaffe left her embarrassed. The incident occurred during a discussion about the BBC adaptation of Agatha Christie’s crime thriller, Towards Zero, which features a racy sex scene that left viewers stunned.

Referring to the explicit scene, Lorraine said: “So David Suchet is coming, I’m just wondering what he makes and what Poirot would’ve made of Towards Zero the new Agatha Christie, it’s called Sh*gatha Christine apparently..”

Lorraine’s choice of words left Susanna taken aback, prompting her to interrupt with: “I beg your pardon?” Lorraine hastily asked: “Am I allowed to say that?”

Ed bluntly informed her that she wasn’t, and Lorraine continued: “Anyway, I apologise, and I apologise again to myself anyway, it is raunchy! I don’t think think that you need it, I think the story is fine. Sorry about that.”

Good Morning Britain continues weekdays on ITV from 6am.
