A popular ‘Crufts-inspired’ dog event is returning to a Bristol brewery later this month. Lost and Grounded Brewers have announced the return of their annual Dog Day Afternoon.

For the fourth year in a row, the brewery will be inviting people to bring their dogs to Whitby Road for an afternoon of competitions, a raffle and a photo shoot. The proceeds from ticket sales will go to supporting StreetVet UK, a charity that provides much-needed care to the pets of those experiencing homelessness across the UK, including covering the cost of medication, lifesaving operations and daily pet essentials.

The day will involve a Crufts-inspired dog show where pooches can show of their best tricks, take part in Musical Sits and strut their stuff on the Dog Walk – with a chance to win prizes. And you can decide who wins the coveted ‘Best in Show’ as the ‘Bestest Boy’ and ‘Goodest Girl’ competitions, which are voted for by the audience.

An organiser said: “And it doesn’t end there, all photos taken on this day will be put to good use – each year Lost and Grounded brew a special beer and use the photos from the Dog Day Afternoon for the can label. A percentage from the sale of the cans will then also be donated to StreetVet UK.

“In previous years they have raised as much as £2000 for the charity! It is one of their most highly anticipated events of the calendar year and is always well attended by people and their pooches. And it’s not only fur-parents and their fur-babies that are invited to this day – if you are a dog lover, beer lover or just looking for a great day out, this promises to be an unmissable event.”

The event will take place on Saturday, March 29, from 1.10pm. Tickets are now on sale at £5 per dog, which includes entry into all contests and pet portrait for the new can design. Proceeds from ticket sales and £1 from each pint sold on the day will go to StreetVet.
