The BBC has excitedly announced that a fresh face will be joining the News at One team starting April.
The announcement was made on social media platform X on Monday, 10 March, by Richard Frediani, the editor of both BBC Breakfast and BBC’s News at One. Richard expressed his delight in sharing the update with BBC viewers.
He congratulated BBC Breakfast presenter Nina Warhurst on her upcoming role as a regular presenter for News at One, starting next month.
“Delighted to welcome Nina Warhurst as a regular presenter of the News at One from April. Congratulations – a brilliant addition to the team in Salford,” Richard wrote, sharing a photo of Nina alongside the post.
Nina is set to take over from Anna Foster, who has been at the helm of News at One since May 2024. Anna will be moving to BBC Radio 4’s Today programme as one of its main presenters, following Mishal Husain’s departure in December, reports the Express.
Richard’s post received a flood of congratulatory messages and well wishes for Nina, who currently serves as a business and consumer presenter on BBC Breakfast.
“Excellent appointment – Anna a hard act to follow on the One as she’s been brilliant, but Nina’s got similar qualities of being a top journalist and so warm and friendly,” commented one individual.
Another added: “Congratulations Nina!” while a third shared: “That’s awesome! She does a fab job on BBC Breakfast, great at her job, tons of personality, charisma, talent and she’s a #MUFC Fan like me.”
One more chimed in: “Brilliant! She’s a top-notch journalist and seems like a lovely person.”
Nina initially joined the BBC in 2010, taking on the role of a regional news presenter for East Midlands Today. She later moved to BBC North West, where she presented BBC North West Tonight and Sunday Politics North West.
Nina was subsequently appointed as the political editor at BBC North West. She then started working on a freelance basis at BBC Breakfast, stepping in for absent hosts. In 2020, she took over from Steph McGovern as the programme’s main business presenter.
