The driver of a Tesla rammed two parked cars then fled unwittingly led police to his location after his dinged electric vehicle started leaking fluid, the Burnaby RCMP says.

A hit and run was reported at about 11:30 p.m. on Feb. 10. A caller reported seeing a Tesla hit the parked cars in the area of McKee Street and McGregor Avenue.
The getaway was anything but slick. The impacts knocked off a piece of the Tesla’s fender, clearly identifying it as a Model X.
“Officers also noted a trail of fluid leading away from the scene,” said Burnaby RCMP Cpl. Mike Kalanj in a news release on Monday. “Investigators followed the fluid trail to an alley and, eventually, right onto a residential property.”
A suspect was arrested for failing to stay at the scene of a crash and the Tesla, along with video from its camera system, was seized.
“This was a fluid investigation and our officers simply followed the evidence,” said Kalanj. “While ‘X’ didn’t necessarily mark the spot, ‘Model X’ definitely assisted our officers in identifying the suspect vehicle.”
