Gerard Conway was last seen in Cookstown in 2007.

The 32-year-old father-of-one was recorded on CCTV at a bank in the town on the 25th of January of that year.

People who knew Mr Conway reported seeing him in late January and even in early February, but he was officially reported missing by his family on 13th of February 2007.

Despite multiple searches in the area, he has never been seen since.

What happened to Gerard Conway remains a mystery but the coroner holding an inquest into his disappearance is satisfied he is dead.

The inquest has heard from family, friends and witnesses who last saw Conway over 18 years ago.

They’ve given various descriptions, sometimes contradictory descriptions, of Conway’s character; One witness described him as “paranoid”, while another mentioned supposed friendship with career criminals, some said he was aggressive, others contradicted that.

Several of them, believed that there was a possibility that he had been murdered.

Ciarán Dunbar is joined by Belfast Telegraph reporter Kurtis Reid, who has been following the story.
