Cops in Markham are seeking the public’s help identifying a man wanted in the armed robbery of a grocery store last month.

York Regional Police say the incident happened Friday, Feb. 21 at around 7 p.m. at a store in the McCowan Rd. and Bur Oak Ave. area.

In a release on Monday, police said, “The complainant told police a male suspect was talking with an employee at the checkout when he pointed a knife at them and took a quantity of cash from the register.”

The man fled through the plaza parking lot on foot in the direction of Emery Hill Blvd.

The wanted robber is described as 40-50 years old with a tan complexion and a “Middle Eastern accent.” He was wearing a black jacket, black baseball hat, dark-coloured mask, and a thick gold bracelet/watch.

YOUTH BUSTED IN ATTEMPTED CARJACKING

A 17-year-old boy is faces charges including fail to comply with a release order in an attempted carjacking last week in North York as police hunt three other suspects.

Toronto Police say that around 4:45 p.m. on March 4 in the Bayview Ave. and York Mills Rd. area, “four suspects travelling in a stolen Mercedes G-Wagon attended a parking lot wearing masks to disguise their identities.”

The victim was walking to their vehicle when the four thugs “knocked the victim to the ground and attempted to take their keys.”

The quartet were unsuccessful and “eventually fled empty-handed in the stolen G-Wagon.”

After an investigation, one suspect was identified. Hold Up squad cops executed a search warrant on Saturday and took the boy into custody. Police alleged that “during the search, officers recovered items of evidentiary value to the investigation.”

The Toronto teen, who can’t be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with robbery, disguise with intent, possession of property obtained by crime over, and fail to comply release order.

No descriptions were available for the outstanding suspects, police said.
