The Met Office has warned that the warm weather enjoyed across Northern Ireland on Sunday won’t last.

It was the UK’s warmest of the year so far, and saw most areas here experience higher than usual temperatures, with mercury reaching 13-14C in some areas.

However, some parts of the UK were warmer than holiday hotspots including the Costa del Sol and the Amalfi Coast.

However, according to the Met Office, the higher temperatures are not set to last, with forecasts of cloudy weather set to come this week.

“It will be a rather cloudy Monday morning with the odd patch of light rain,” said the Met Office.

“It will dry in the afternoon and becoming brighter with some sunshine. Feeling colder in the fresh northeast wind, with a maximum temperature 9C.”

As for Tuesday into Wednesday, the advice is to prepare for a “cold few days with mainly dry with sunny spells by day and touch of frost at nights”.

The Met Office also expects “brisk northerly winds” on Wednesday into Thursday, with Friday cool and showery and the weekend continuing on a cool theme, with high pressure to the north later becoming more dominant.
