A woman who raped children alongside her Tinder lover has died in jail. Rebecca Holloway and Oliver Wilson were both jailed after committing a catalogue of “horrific and appalling” abuse on children.
Holloway was jailed for 12-and-a-half years at Teesside Crown Court in 2020 while her accomplice was locked up for 29-and-a-half years. But just five years into the jail term the 31-year-old mum died at Low Newton prison near Durham.
A Prison Service spokesperson confirmed the death. It said: “HMP Low Newton prisoner Rebecca Holloway died on February 13.
“As with all deaths in custody, the Prison and Probation Ombudsman will investigate.” Police have said the death is not suspicious.
An inquest will be held to determine the exact circumstances surrounding what happened. Her next of kin have been informed, reports Grimsby Live..
At the 2020 sentencing hearing Judge Paul Watson QC described Holloway’s part in the offences as “vile”. He told her: “You were there encouraging Wilson when he was sexually abusing the girl and you played your part in the vile sexual acts to which she was subjected.
“You derived perverted sexual pleasure from what he was doing. You were a willing, even enthusiastic, participant in what happened. The full extent of the long-term impact of what you two did to the girl may never be known. But it is clear that it has had a profound effect upon her.”
The judge said Holloway and Wilson shared “depraved and vile” text messages about their crimes. He said of one victim: “You sexually abused her in a horrific and appalling way. When she was asked how many times she had been raped by you, she could only reply ‘lots’.”
Andrew Bailey, representing Holloway, told the hearing she had lost her baby son to cot death in 2015. She met Wilson when she was “emotionally vulnerable”.
He added the defendant was a long-term self-harmer. She also and suffered from PTSD due to “repeated traumatic events in her past”.
