TEARFUL TRUDEAU A HYPOCRITE

At a press conference in Ottawa, outgoing PM Justin Trudeau launched a drama performance of the ages that appropriately could be described as a nauseating display of hypocrisy and fraudulence. The tearful PM related how he “put Canadians first” and “had people’s backs” — such rang as hollow as the half-completed pipelines in Canada that carry no Canadian oil! Perhaps Trudeau was referring to how he “put Canadians first” while whisking off to Jamaica, in a private jet, to luxuriate in a $9,000-a-day resort. Or maybe Trudeau “had people’s backs” while staying in a $6,000-a-night room in London, or while visiting the Aga Khan’s materialistic paradise. In any event, I suspect that Canadians lined up at food banks or soup kitchens truly appreciate the Mr. Me…Me…Me masquerading as a caring leader.

DISTRACTED ELECTORATE

There is no doubt that the President Trump tariffs have rescued the Trudeau-Carney government from potential annihilation in the next election — if Jagmeet Singh ever allows one to happen. This has breathed new life in the Liberal Party with financial donations flowing into it. Carney-Trudeau have been able to get Canadians to concentrate solely on Trump and not a decade of corruption scandals and irresponsible spending. The longer they can keep Canadians distracted and taking their anger out on Trump, not their appalling record of governance, the best chance Carney has of winning the next election.

TRUMP SMARTS

Lorne Gunter’s column “Best response to U.S. tariffs is building a cross-country economy” (March 5) opines that Trump sees himself as the smartest person in the room. The real problem is that Trump IS the smartest person in the room. Since those in the room were chosen by Trump himself, what else would you expect?
