A savvy shopper has shared a “genius” money-saving hack for anyone who regularly buys flowers. Mel Lloyd (@my_neutral_place) recommended the tip in a popular video on TikTok. The DIY fan, who shares home decor inspiration, impressed viewers with the simple hack.
Mel revealed she purchased a £5.99 Home Bargains basket to create her own floral arrangement. As the shopper demonstrated, she added potted plants to the basket to create a long-lasting display that looks just as beautiful as a vase of flowers.
Given the arrangement should last for months, it’s an easy way to save money if you usually buy cut flowers, which usually need replacing every week or so.
Mel explained: “This lined country style basket is just perfect for plants. I think it makes a lovely Spring / Easter centrepiece. It would look great outside too… in fact I might need to go back to Home Bargains to buy another!
“Very tempting at £5.99! If you’ve already got a suitable size basket you could easily line it with plastic and use that, saving even more money!”

Someone did point out that drainage could be an issue, which could be something to keep in mind when caring for their plants, reports the Mirror.
