It wasn’t the climax Matthew Johnson was likely expecting.

Cops claim that following a wild booze-fueled night of raunchy sex Johnson was shot dead — and his body dumped in the wilds of Utah. His remains have not been found.

Detectives believe it was his promiscuous wife who squeezed the trigger.

Jennifer Gledhill, 42, was denied bail on Feb. 28 after a court saw incriminating evidence allegedly tying her to the suspected murder of her husband Matthew Johnson, 51.

According to detectives, Johnson vanished from the couple’s $1 million mansion near Salt Lake City in September 2024. They believe that sexual satisfaction is the driving factor behind the suspected homicide.

To prove their point, investigators alleged Gledhill confessed to adultery. It was the other man who allegedly tipped cops off about the sinister plot against the father of three.

Cops believe after the raunchy sex games, Gledhill blew her husband’s brains out as he slept. Then, they claim, she dragged his bloody, lifeless body out of their posh home along with grisly evidence.

There are bloodstains on the carpet beneath the marital bed. Forensics confirmed it was Johnson’s blood. Then there was the GPS tracking map that showed she drove to where his red pickup truck was later discovered. A nearby creek revealed a storage container that tested positive for the missing man’s blood.

At the rural dump site, cops found the couple’s mattress and pillows bundled in a rug from the family home. A 2023 image shows Johnson by the same rug.

According to cops, Jennifer was having a torrid affair with an unidentified man who later dropped a dime on her. The man told detectives that Gledhill allegedly copped to killing her husband and driving her minivan to the dump site.

The lothario may have liked the sex, but the murder creeped him out. Intimate details of their torrid talks were shared at her bail hearing.

“Right before [Jennifer] reported Matthew missing, [her lover] recorded a phone call with the defendant,” prosecutors said. “In the phone call, the [Jennifer] apologizes for telling [her lover] about what happened, she tells him to not think of her as a monster and to remember her who she was before she opened her mouth.”

For the clandestine lover, that was a little tough.

In the recorded conversations, she discussed the unfortunate Johnson in the past tense — even before she reported him missing.

She allegedly told her lover: “I think that the fact that you got scared of me, that part like broke my heart because I was like, ‘Wow, if you think I could even hurt a fly’. Like he just, he is, he’s not a person. He wasn’t a person anymore he wasn’t Matt anymore.”

Investigators believe Matthew Johnson was murdered on Sept. 20, 2024.

For Gledhill’s playmate, the sordid details turned out to be too much. He told the suspected black widow that he was terrified by her confession. How would she feel, he asked, if the roles were reversed?

Gledhill boasted: “Not if I deserved it. I always preach that I was like the queen of hearts in my past lives because I’m like, ‘Off with their heads.’ I’m like if we could just round up the scum of this earth and put them on an island or just kill them all, I could shipshape this country back into a good place.”

She has so far denied killing her husband and her legal eagles claim the incendiary phone recordings were taken out of context.

During a police interrogation following her arrest on Oct. 3, 2024, Gledhill told detectives she and her husband were separated. But on Sept. 20, 2024, she said, it was like old times as they talked and drank whiskey.

And then they had sex, she told cops.

“[She] informed [the officer] due to the intoxication from the whiskey she had a hard time recalling the events that took place after her and Matthew had sex,” police alleged, adding that the missing man “became upset.”

The boyfriend filled in the blanks: Johnson was allegedly upset because he discovered his wife had been cheating on him.

In addition to Gledhill, her parents were also charged in connection with the murder. Neighbours allegedly spotted Thomas and Rosalie Gledhill doing a crime scene clean-up.

Her mom also bought the accused killer a new mattress. Maybe it’s the family that slays together.

MISSING TV ANCHOR MYSTERY SOLVED?

Iowa TV anchor Jodi Huisentruit was a fast-rising star in the broadcast news game.

But that came to a tragic end when the 27-year-old vanished from Mason City, Iowa, on June 27, 1995. She has not been seen since.

Now, detectives believe they may be close to unravelling the mystery of what happened to her.

Outside her apartment that day, cops found signs of a struggle around her car, which was still in the parking lot. They worked on the theory that she had been attacked as she walked to her car for her shift at work.

Minnesota native Huisentruit was declared dead in 2001.

On Monday, a judge heard arguments to unseal a 2017 search warrant of two cars belonging to a longtime person of interest in Huisentruit’s disappearance and presumed murder. The person of interest died in December 2024.

The family’s lawyer said they need closure. The district attorney claimed the case is still active and unsealing the warrant could compromise the probe.

A ruling is expected to come within 30 days.
