Police are appealing for further victims to come forward after a 69-year-old Brampton religious leader was accused of sexual assault.

Peel Regional Police claim the accused went to the victim’s residence on Monday to perform a religious ceremony where he allegedly sexually assaulted her.

On Friday, Ashok Kumar was arrested and charged with one count of sexual assault.

Police said the accused is also known by the name Ashok Sharma.

The accused has been a religious leader in the Brampton community for several years and investigators are concerned about the possibility of other alleged victims, cops said.
