TTC users have running lists of their concerns when using the transit system – issues of safety, crime, other passengers and so much more.

The latest troubling incident was shared on social media and shows a man flicking lit matches on the subway floor, just because.

The video, posted by user @ishofficialvlog on TikTok and reshared by 6ixBuzzTV on X, shows a hooded man lighting a match, then haphazardly tossing it to the floor.

Some passengers looked on while others appeared unfazed.

The wannabe pyro looks as if he is considering stomping out the small flame, before he flattens his boot and watches it burn out in the 27-second clip.

People took to the comments section to air their concerns and share their own perils of riding the TTC.

“Why I don’t take the TTC reason number 107,” one person wrote, while a second user added: “Every single time I’ve taken the subway, I’ve encountered a weirdo, it never fails.”

Many slammed the person recording the video.

“Pull security cord. Don’t film it,” one user wrote, while another scoffed, “And yet no one does anything. Nothing. Just filming …”

Others labelled what the wannabe pyro as a “prank,” and another joked, “Literally the least thing you have to worry about on the TTC.”

However, not everyone was laughing.

One user said someone should have called 911.

Another rider tagged the TTC with the comment, “You see what happens when you don’t have any staff/security on the train,” to which the transit system replied, “If you witness any safety or security concerns during your travels, please notify a TTC employee immediately,” while also suggesting riders report the matter on their SafeTTC app.

One frustrated Torontonian wrote, “This is what happens when a city prioritizes woke nonsense over law and order. Criminals run free, innocent people suffer, and no one in power does a damn thing.”
