The Calgary Flames have rewarded Connor Murphy with a new deal.

The 26-year-old goaltender has spent the season splitting time between the ECHL’s Rapid City Rush and the Flames’ AHL affiliate, the Calgary Wranglers. On Thursday, he signed a one-year, two-way contract for the remainder of the 2024-25 season.

The new deal means that if the Flames did need to call him up from the farm teams, they cold.

That would not seem particularly likely at the moment, as the tandem of Dustin Wolf and Dan Vladar has been very good for the Flames and Devin Cooley and Waltteri Ignatjew have been solid for the Wranglers.

But Murphy has been doing good work for the Wranglers, where he’s posted a 2-2-0 record this season, and with the Rush. Against ECHL opponents, he’s posted an 8-6-4 record with a .912 save-percentage and a 2.97 goals-against-average.

Murphy joined the Flames organization before the beginning of the 2023-24 season, having played 91 games in college with Union College and Northeastern University.
