Meghan Markle was caught off guard during an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show when the emotional host surprised her with a photo of Princess Diana.
The Duchess of Sussex, 43, was on the programme to promote her new Netflix cookery show “With Love, Meghan”, which launched on Tuesday, March 4.
Barrymore presented the former actress with a framed black and white picture of herself as a child meeting the late Princess Diana.
The framed photo showed a young Barrymore meeting the former Princess of Wales around the time she starred in E.T., presenting the late princess with a doll of the alien character.

Barrymore became emotional as she shared the memory, saying: “It means so much to me to have met such an incredible human being that transcended everything.
“It was the honour of my life.”
Meghan, clearly touched by the gesture, responded: “Oh, my gosh, look at your little face. Oh, that’s so sweet. That’s really special. I will tell H [Harry] that, for sure.”
The unexpected moment created a touching connection between the two women and left the duchess visibly surprised.

In a notable moment during the interview, Barrymore introduced her guest as “Meghan Sussex” rather than Markle.
This appears to be the first time Meghan has been publicly introduced with her new surname, following her recent correction of Mindy Kaling on her Netflix show.
Meghan also surprised everyone by bringing homemade cookies for the entire audience.
She revealed she had worked in the kitchen with help from Prince Harry, Archie and her close friend Clare Waight Keller to prepare enough treats.
