Kate Garraway has shared details about her exciting venture beyond her role at ITV’s Good Morning Britain.

The 57-year-old joined her colleagues Ed Balls and Susanna Reid on Thursday’s edition of the programme to share the latest national news.

As Richard Arnold provided the showbiz scoop, he revealed that Kate will be part of the star-studded roster for the new series of The Great Celebrity Bake Off: Stand Up To Cancer, which is set to make a comeback on Channel 4 from March 16. Joining her in the kitchen will be stars such as Roman Kemp, Jamali Maddix, and Maxine Peake.

The conversation turned light-hearted when Ed questioned Kate about her performance on the baking show, jesting: “Did did you have a soggy bottom?” Without missing a beat, Kate quipped back: “I always have a soggy bottom Ed as you well know!” Ed clarified with a chuckle: “I mean in cookery terms!”

Kate reminisced about the fun she had during filming, but kept silent on the specifics saying: “A lot of surfaces got covered but brilliant. I can’t give anything away though.”

The much-loved baking extravaganza is due to hit our screens again this spring on Channel 4, complete with a dazzling array of celebrities and a brand-new judge. Each episode will feature four celebrities striving to dazzle in three rounds – the signature, technical, and the showstopper challenges – with one walking away as the Star Baker at the episode’s conclusion, reports the Manchester Evening News.

Accompanying Paul Hollywood on the judging panel is Caroline Waldegrave, formerly at the helm of Leiths School of Food and Wine as co-owner and managing director, who also holds a longstanding friendship with original judge Prue Leith. Paul and Caroline are set to evaluate the star-studded bakes whipped up in aid of Stand Up To Cancer.

The news regarding Prue’s hiatus from the celebrity series emerged early last year, sparking whispers she might depart the show permanently. However, Prue quickly curtailed such gossip during her chat on This Morning.

Engaging with hosts Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley, Prue clarified: “It’s absolutely not true at all! What I’m not doing this year is the celebrity one.

“These things are filmed back-to-back all the way through summer from April to August so you don’t get any time off. I’m getting quite old and there’s places I want to see. So I’m not doing this year’s.”

Good Morning Britains airs weekdays from 6am on ITV1.
