Music lovers were left distraught after realising a particular artist’s absence from this year’s Glastonbury Festival roster.
With notable acts like The 1975, Neil Young, and Olivia Rodrigo confirmed to top the bill, festival-goers scoured through the list for more star-studded names.
A notable no-show has music enthusiasts feeling “gutted” yet also praising the variety of new talent joining the Worthy Farm event.
Social media buzzed following the announcement, with the r/ GlastonburyFestival Reddit page featuring the preliminary setlist, including fan favourites such as Weezer and Kaiser Chiefs, alongside burgeoning talents like English Teacher, Doechii and Kneecap.
The anticipation intensified as one Reddit user expressed enthusiasm about the line-up, remarking: “Biffy, Deftones, Weezer and Turnstile is great. Worth the ticket money on its own.”
Another Redditor gave kudos to the festival’s focus on heavier rock, adding: “Absolutely massive for heavier rock representation – always been the one genre that seems under-represented at Glasto, even though the fanbase is so widespread.”
Yet, some felt let down by an apparent oversight; they wonder if the festival organisers made a misstep by not securing a much-anticipated act to lead one of the stages.
One commenter wrote: “Where the f**k is Chappell Roan?????” Meanwhile, another user suggested that although she was meant to be in a supporting act slot, there might be strategic reasons behind her absence.
They claimed: “RandL is a headliner exclusive, she was supposed to be sub-headlining so she could have still done it. Her label are pushing her to be a headliner so if all goes well with her album release she will probably be headlining in 2027.”
A third shared they were “gutted” after it was teased Roan had been confirmed for the festival on BBC Radio 4. They wrote: “I was listening to Radio 4 and they even played a snippet from Pink Pony Club when they announced the lineup had been released. Little bit gutted.”
Others call the omission “genuinely devastating” expressing high regard for Grammy winner Chappell Roan, with sentiments like: “Right! A little bit devastated.” Another stated: “Genuinely devastating! I was really hoping she’d be there.”
Excitement for the upcoming festival has reached fever pitch on the subreddit, where numerous members are excitedly discussing the line-up and all the featured acts.
Concerns about scheduling conflicts among attendees have arisen too. One user wrote: “Neil vs Charli is interesting… in theory, attracting two sets of distinct crowds but the festival skews so much younger these days (I don’t know if it actually does it just feels that way) I could see an Avril [Lavigne] style sardine situation at the Other Stage.”
Another member expressed reservations regarding the headliners, contrasting their own expectations with the thrilling undercard artists: “Personally for me the headliners (pyramid) are extremely poor. There’s plenty of other good artists though.”
