Loganair is set to introduce daily flights between Southampton and Manchester from October 2025.

The Scottish airline will base two aircraft at Southampton Airport to operate the new service, marking the return of a key route that was previously operated by Flybe until 2020.

The Southampton to Manchester connection was previously used by more than 200,000 passengers annually.

The new service aims to strengthen economic ties between the two cities. Loganair will operate two ATR-72 aircraft from Southampton, with flights starting on October 26, 2025.

The Scottish carrier will also launch a new service from Manchester to Exeter, also beginning on October 26.

The Southampton to Manchester route has been strategically timed to connect with flights to Inverness, Aberdeen and the Isle of Man.

Loganair highlighted that the new service will enhance the onward connectivity with major international airlines. These include Emirates, Qatar Airways, Turkish Airlines, Singapore Airlines and Aer Lingus.

The new flights from Manchester to Southampton only have passengers in the air for one hour and four minutes.

Chief executive of Southampton Airport’s parent AGS Airports Kam Jandu said: “Manchester is the most sought-after route by businesses across the region.

“The re-introduction of this route will open even more global connection opportunities for our passengers, making the world even more accessible from their local airport.”

Loganair currently maintains nine other bases across the UK in addition to Southampton.

These include Kirkwall, Inverness, Aberdeen, Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee, City of Derry, Newcastle and Isle of Man.

easyJet has also announced a new twice-weekly route from Liverpool John Lennon Airport to Gran Canaria.

Flights will operate on Mondays and Fridays throughout the winter season, beginning on October 27, 2025, a day after the new routes from Loganair.

This new connection offers travellers a convenient option for winter sun getaways from the northwest of England.

The budget airline’s expansion adds another destination to Liverpool’s growing list of international routes.
