Detective Chief Inspector Graham Orr said: “My thoughts at this time are first and foremost with Mr Krzan’s family and friends who are left trying to come to terms with their loss.

“Our investigation is at an early stage and enquiries are ongoing to establish the exact circumstances. I am asking anyone with information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, to contact detectives on 101.

Last week widespread tributes were paid to the deceased following the tragedy.

One neighbour, who didn’t wish to be named, said the victim, was “so so kind and always full of smiles and joy”.

She added: “He never forgot to say hello… and welcomed me as soon as I moved in with an extra black bin and everything. The estate will be so different.”

Another said it had been “such a shock” and that people “can’t think straight”.
