NI traffic alerts: Emergency services at scene of serious Co Tyrone crash

The Sturgan Road outside Camlough will be closed for a number of hours this evening, Wednesday 5th March.

 Officers from the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s Collision Investigation Unit are due to carry out scene testing following a fatal collision in the area on 27th October 2023.

 A 16-year-old boy died in the single-vehicle collision involving a black Volkswagen Golf.

 Police will be conducting tests on the Newtown Road between the junctions at Mountain Road and Sturgan Brae from 8pm – 11pm.  The road will remain open, however there may be some delays in the area.

 Local access will be accommodated for people living in this area.

Road users are advised that the Foreglen Road, at the junction with Feeney Road, Dungiven, has now fully reopened following an earlier collision in the area. 

The Foreglen Road in Dungiven, at the junction with Feeney Road, is down to one lane due to a two-vehicle road traffic collision.

Police are asking road users to avoid the area and seek an alternative route.

There has been a two-vehicle crash on the M2 city-bound between J1 Fortwilliam and J1B Duncrue Street. Lanes 1 and 2 of the four lanes are currently obstructed.

The Duncrue Street off-slip is still open and the incident is passable, but delays can be expected.

UPDATE: This crash has now been moved to the hard shoulder and is passable with care. 

The M2 motorway at Fortwilliam has now re-opened following an earlier road traffic collision. However, long delays in the area remain. 

The M2 citybound is closed at junction 1 Fortwilliam due to a car fire. Motorists are being asked to leave M2 at Fotwilliam off-slip and rejoin M2 using the Fortwilliam on-slip. Delays are to be expected.

UPDATE: Police are now advising of long delays for Belfast bound traffic following a road traffic collision on the M2 motorway at Fortwilliam. Motorists are asked to seek alternative routes if possible.

The Hillsborough Road in Dromara is currently closed in both directions between the Ballynahinch Road and the Begney Hill junction due to a road traffic collision. Police are advising drivers to avoid the area and seek an alternative route.

Update: The road reopened before 3pm on Sunday

Police are at the scene of a crash on the M2 citybound. The collision occurred at junction 5 Templepatrick on the outer lane. One lane is currently open. Delays are expected. 

There is a broken-down vehicle on the A12 Westlink at Clifton Street, in Lane 2 heading towards York Street. 
While the incident is passable in Lane 1, delays are likely. 

An earlier crash on the M1 eastbound near Moira has now been cleared. 

The M1 eastbound is closed between junctions eight and nine, just beyond Moira, due to a traffic collision.

PSNI are in attendance and road users being advised to avoid the area. There are reports that a car has come off the road and into a field.

The emergency services are at the scene of what the PSNI has called a ‘serious’ one vehicle crash in the Railway Street area of Comber. Local diversions are in place, and road users are advised to avoid the area.

A crash on the M1 leaving Belfast just after junction 3 Blacks Road is causing delays. Lane two is currently blocked. 
Long delays are expected

The Glenshane Road in Dungiven is closed to traffic due to reports of flooding near the quarry. Drivers should avoid the area and seek an alternative route for their journey.

With a weather warning in place until 1pm, the Met Office said strong winds could cause disruption to transport and infrastructure, with delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport considered likely.

The A20 Newtownards Road citybound is closed at its junction with the Albertbridge Road (past McDonalds) with citybound traffic being diverted left onto the Albertbridge Road. From there, drivers can head on towards Templemore Avenue and then right turn to rejoin the Newtownards Road, or carry on towards the Short Strand to make their way to the city centre.

Road users are asked to avoid the Old Loughry Road area of Cookstown as police and other emergency services are currently at the scene of a serious two vehicle road traffic collision. There are diversions in place. Seek an alternative route for your journey.

Both lanes of the M1 Westbound at Junction six have now re-opened following a road traffic collision in the area earlier. There remains a build-up of traffic and police are asking road users to exercise caution.
