Meghan has appeared to drop her “Duchess of Sussex” title in a major move.
Drew Barrymore addressed the former working royal as “Meghan Sussex” during her appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show, set to air Thursday, as opposed to her official title: “Meghan, The Duchess of Sussex”.
The moment came as Barrymore introduced a “Fast Five” segment with her guest.
Barrymore, 50, specifically used “Sussex” as Meghan’s surname, as opposed to the full “Duchess” title bestowed upon her and Prince Harry by Queen Elizabeth II on their wedding day in 2018.

Prince Archie, five, and Princess Lilibet, three, use Sussex as their surname, which is in line with Royal Family tradition.
It mirrors how Prince Harry was known as “Harry Wales” during his school years, taking his father’s title as his surname, and Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie took “York” as their surname, as the daughters of Prince Andrew, The Duke of York.
In an interview with People magazine this week, Meghan explained the deeper significance the Sussex name now holds for her family.
“It’s our shared name as a family, and I guess I hadn’t recognised how meaningful that would be to me until we had children,” she told the publication.

“A huge part of our love story is that we share the name Sussex,” Meghan said, noting its importance as their children grow older.
This is not the only time Meghan has emphasised her preference for the Sussex surname.
On her Netflix series “With Love, Meghan”, she corrected friend Mindy Kaling, who referred to her as “Meghan Markle”.

“It’s so funny, too, that you keep saying Meghan Markle. You know I’m Sussex now,” Meghan told Kaling during a garden party scene.
She explained her reasoning: “You have kids, and you go, ‘No, I share my name with my children.’ I didn’t know how meaningful that would be to me, but it just means so much to go; this is our family name, our little family name.”
Meghan’s appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show marked her first daytime television talk show appearance in three years.
The 43-year-old duchess has had a busy week, with her lifestyle series premiering on Tuesday alongside the launch of her first products from her As ever brand.
