Should you find yourself needing to whip up a pastry for a pie, tart or any sweet indulgence – mastering the task can prove super useful.

However, crafting that perfect, flaky pastry can be a challenge for some. Fortunately, baking aficionado Zoha – better known as bakewithzoha on TikTok – has offered a nugget of wisdom for those striving for crumbly perfection.

In her recent video, which has sparked considerable interest, Zoha reveals a straightforward recipe guaranteed to enhance your homemade pie crust game. With just four basic ingredients and minimal effort, she explains how anyone can achieve great results.

Here are the essential steps shared by Zoha. There really isn’t much to baking success.

Zoha said: “First, mix together flour, sugar and salt in a bowl. Then take some butter straight from the fridge. It should be really cold. Cut it into cubes, and crumb it into the flour using your hands. It should start to resemble bread crumbs – just like this.

“Then take some ice cold water and add it in until the dough just starts to come together. Put it in the fridge and let it cool down. Then you’re going to roll out the dough.

“It will start to crack around the edges, but you can use your hands to clean those edges up. Transfer to your pan, gently tuck in the edges and prick with a fork so that the dough does not rise – and that’s it.”

The video tutorial for the pie has gone viral, racking up thousands of views since it made its debut. People didn’t hesitate to add their thoughts in the comments section.

One bemused viewer mused: “You’re telling me the whole time I can make this pie easily?” In the same vein, another was keen to share: “This turns out perfect every time. Half bake it before baking with filling.”

A third revealed: “This recipe was amazing. I accidentally added four tablespoons of sugar instead of four teaspoons – still turned out wonderfully!”

Here’s what you need to whip up the pastry:

  • 1 1/3 cups flour
  • 1/2 cup butter, cold and cubed
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons cold water
