McFly star Danny Jones, 38, had to work hard to win the heart of his now-wife Georgia when they first met back in 2008. Despite being instantly smitten with the blonde beauty, King of the Jungle Danny faced numerous rejections over a year before she finally agreed to date him.
The former Miss England, 38, who shares six year old son Cooper with Danny, reflected on the early stages of their romance during an appearance on the Never Have I Ever podcast with Joel Dommett and Hannah Cooper at the end of last year.
She confessed that it wasn’t love at first sight for her – in fact, she initially really disliked him. “He was a bit of a d*ck, and I didn’t really like him,” Georgia admitted on the podcast, adding that Danny’s persistence was impressive.
“He tried for a year. I do like to drop that into conversation every now and again. He wanted me for a year.”
Georgia opened up about initially rejecting Danny’s advances, confessing: “I said no. I was totally chilled when we went on the date. I didn’t really want to. My mum went, ‘Oh darling, what have you got to lose? Go on, go and enjoy yourself.'”
But Georgia was convinced that Danny was a player, saying to her mum at the time: “‘He’s probably going to be a bit of a top shagger, isn’t he?’ I just assumed. I treated him mean, kept him keen – without realising. I didn’t know I was doing that”.
The couple’s love story blossomed, despite Georgia’s initial reservations, and Danny proposed in 2013.
By 2014, the pair had married with family and friends around them, and eventually, they welcomed their boy, Cooper.
However, Georgia recently shared that their romantic life has faced challenges amid the demands of parenting and their respective careers. Chatting to Joel and Hannah, she also mentioned that Danny has an unusual bedtime habit… wearing mouth tape, which she lightly teased has been a small hiccup in their sex life.
“I think it helps you sleep better,” she replied, seeming unsure: “It’s better for your health. It improves your jawline apparently. Do you know what it’s really good for? Not having to have sex”. She continued, laughingly saying: “We don’t need mouth tape for that”.
This comes after footage surfaced of Danny seemingly kissing fellow I’m A Celeb star Maura Higgins during a BRITS afterparty. The kiss has provoked uproar amongst fans on social media.
Reach PLC has reached out to Danny’s representatives for a comment, but are yet to receive a reply.
Neither Danny, his wife, nor Maura have commented on the allegations.
