A woman was left ‘mortified’ after ordering a chicken burger from a well-known Bristol fast-food brand only to discover it was covered in mould. Charlotte White had ordered a chicken burger from the Miss Millie’s in Yate, when she made the grim discovery.
Charlotte, who was visiting her sister in Yate, ordered from the Miss Millie’s in Yate Shopping Centre. She then bit into her burger before realising that there was mould on the bun and subsequently was sick.
Miss Millie’s told BristolLive that it was ‘extremely concerned and shocked’ about the incident and that an investigation has been launched. The fast-food brand has contacted Charlotte to offer a personal apology.

Charlotte, who lives in Stoke Gifford, said: “I’ve never had Miss Millie’s from the Yate branch before I ordered it on Saturday. I took a bite of the burger and realised that it was mouldy.
“I immediately puked the food back up. My sister [who ate her part of the meal] was mortified. I was very angry.”
Charlotte said she tried to phone the restaurant following the ordeal to complain about the burger, but said that despite multiple attempts, no-one answered the phone. Charlotte said that she had been warned by friends in the past not to order from Yate and that her experience has tainted her view of the brand.
She said: “I will probably never go to Miss Millie’s again. I’ve never had a bad experience before but I will not go there again.”

A spokesperson for Miss Millie’s said: “We were extremely concerned and shocked to hear that a customer at our Yate store had this experience, which is totally out of line with our stringent high-quality standards that we work really hard to maintain across all of our stores.
“Working with our franchisees and our senior management team we’ve launched an immediate investigation into why this happened and will conduct a full audit, to ensure this never happens again.
“At the time of the article being written we’ve reached out to Charlotte, offering her a personal apology and are in discussions to rectify this situation with a full refund and another meal on us.”
