During a recent episode of The Chase, host Bradley Walsh was left in awe as one contestant’s quizzing skills led him to ask if the player fancied becoming a professional quizzer.
On Monday’s (March 3) show, Anne Hegerty faced off against four formidable opponents who all delivered strong performances, each scoring a minimum of £6,000 in the cash builder round.
Politics journalist Ed, 27, impressed particularly, correctly answering eight questions. The Governess recognised his potential, tempting him with a £108,000 offer, which he declined in favour of playing for £8,000.
Ed confidently made it through to the final chase, helping to bring the team total up to £20,000. Teammates, Chris and Julie each contributed £6,000, while Maggie added another £6,000 but was caught out by Anne.

In the final chase, Ed’s outstanding performance nearly had him flying solo, successfully tackling all 22 questions.
Surprised by his talents, Bradley half-jokingly inquired: “Ed, want a job?” A sigh of relief and team congratulations followed as the clock stopped, sealing their victory.
The team’s score of 22 initially seemed unassailable, particularly after The Governess faltered on the second question. However, Anne made an impressive recovery, resulting in a tense final chase that saw the trio defeated with just three seconds to spare, reports the Express.

Anne acknowledged the team’s skill, singling out Ed for praise and even issuing a humble apology for surpassing their impressive score.
“I feel I should apologise. I really did not actually expect to catch that. That was an excellent target. You did play brilliantly, especially Ed,” she said.
The Chase airs weekdays at 5pm on ITV1. The latest episodes are available on ITVX.
