It looks as though Lorraine Kelly isn’t impressed by Meghan Markle’s recently released Netflix series dubbing it “unrealistic”. With Love, Meghan is an eight-part series which will follow the Duchess of Sussex in a gorgeous Californian home as she shares cooking, gardening and hosting tips.

As a clip was played at the beginning of ITV’s Lorraine, She said: “I wonder if the Royals will be watching? We’ve got a first look as Meghan makes her return to television. Doesn’t that all look so clean and gorgeous and lovely and unrealistic though, for the rest of us!”

The Netflix series was released on Tuesday morning after it was pushed back from its original release earlier this year. Discussing the series on Lorraine, the ITV host was joined by royal expert Russell Myers and Ayesha Hazarika.

Watching another snippet of Meghan hosting a dinner party surrounded by friends and her husband, Prince Harry, Lorraine asked: “Do you think it was worth the wait? We have been getting teased by this for a while.”

Russell replied: “I really wanted to watch this and be behind Meghan. I didn’t want to say – of course it’s not for me, I don’t think I’m Meghan Markle’s target audience.

“But where is the substance here? That’s what I think it’s lacking, there’s a lot of box ticking in there, we’ve got beautiful views, we’ve got the dogs, there’s lots of dried flowers, there’s lots of beautiful atmosphere in the house that isn’t her own.”

The royal expert told Lorraine he was struggling to see who the target audience was and believed the series could’ve worked well on social media in small two to five-minute clips.

Lorraine questioned her other guest Ayesha Hazarika to find out what she thought of the series so far. She replied: “I always stuck up for Meghan Markle, I think she had a really hard time when she was here.

“So, I really wanted to go in and love this – it is cringe. I made loads of notes and I kept writing the words, ‘get a job’. Who has got the time to make your own bath salts and do all of this?”

Mocking some of the footage she’s seen so far, Lorraine asked: “Are you seriously, though, trying to say to me that you don’t in the morning and everyone, when you’re getting the kids out to school and stuff, that you don’t cut up fruit in a beautiful way and put it in the shape of a rainbow? Are you telling me that?!”

A synopsis for the series reads: “This inspiring series, produced by Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, reimagines the genre of lifestyle programming, blending practical how-to’s and candid conversation with friends, new and old.

“Meghan shares personal tips and tricks, embracing playfulness over perfection and highlights how easy it can be to create beauty, even in the unexpected. She and her guests roll up their sleeves in the kitchen, the garden, and beyond, and invite you to do the same.”

Lorraine continues weekdays on ITV from 9am.With Love, Meghan is available to stream on Netflix.
