Air fryers have become a kitchen essential in recent years, but keeping them clean is crucial. If you neglect to clean your gadget, it could result in unappetising meals or even cause the machine to malfunction.
In fact, experts advise cleaning your air fryer after every use and performing a deep clean monthly. While some cleaning enthusiasts swear by dishwasher tablets and hot water or baking soda and white vinegar, there’s another pantry staple that could tackle stubborn grime.
Air fryers consist of a cooking chamber, a heating element, and a fan. The heating element generates heat, and the fan circulates this hot air around the cooking chamber, ensuring the food is cooked evenly.
However, this process can lead to grease and oil splattering around the chamber and accumulating as grime over time. Instead of baking soda and white vinegar, you might want to consider coconut oil, particularly for tough grease.
Simply apply a bit of coconut oil to the area. The coconut oil will help dissolve the grease, reports the Express.

Then, wipe everything off with a clean towel or paper towel. Coconut oil’s natural properties make it ideal for cleaning without being too abrasive on surfaces.
It cleans grease by acting as a ‘solvent’, lifting and capturing grease from surfaces, allowing any dirt to be rinsed away with water.
The Coconut Company has also suggested that coconut oil can be mixed with baking soda to create a versatile antimicrobial cleaner for showers, sinks, and baths. They wrote: “From polishing shoes to cleaning make-up brushes, coconut oil is a versatile product that will soon become your cleaning aid. It can condition and restore wood, much like a wax, even helping to prevent water stains.
“Got some tricky scuffs on the floor? Coconut oil can come to the rescue there too. Polish up your stainless steel appliances to a high shine.”
