The province’s police watchdog is investigating the circumstances of a 53-year-old man’s death inside a Scarborough home.
Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit said preliminary information suggests Toronto Police officers responded Friday at approximately 11:30 p.m. to a home in the area of Ellesmere and Bellamy Rds. for a domestic incident.
According to the SIU, cops contained the area and tried to communicate with a man inside the home. However, attempts to speak with the man were unsuccessful.
At approximately 6 a.m. on Saturday, police deployed a drone into the residence, the SIU said. The drone found the man dead.
One investigator and two forensic investigators have been assigned to the case. A post-mortem is scheduled for Sunday in Toronto.
The SIU is asking anyone who may have information about this investigation, including video or photos, to contact the lead investigator at 1-800-787-8529 or online at siu.on.ca.
