Meghan Markle is being tipped to make a splash at tonight’s Academy Awards ceremony in Hollywood, potentially using the high-profile event to promote her upcoming Netflix show.
The Duchess of Sussex has reportedly received an invitation to the Oscars, taking place on Sunday, March 3, at the Dolby Theatre.
“She would make waves if she shows up tonight and will get global publicity for her series,” a source told the Mail.
Her appearance would coincide with the launch of her new Netflix programme, “With Love, Meghan”, which begins streaming on Tuesday.

The former Suits actress has been gradually expanding her media presence since stepping back from royal duties.
Meghan’s lifestyle and cookery show has faced several setbacks, with its launch delayed by the LA wildfires.
She has also faced claims of copying former Baywatch star Pamela Anderson’s show, “Pamela’s Cooking with Love”.
The Netflix series is expected to pave the way for her lifestyle brand launch, formerly named American Riviera Orchard but now called “As Ever”.

The brand continues to undergo trademark matters with no confirmed release date.
Meghan has recently bolstered her team with the addition of Meredith Maines as Chief of Communications.
Maines, who has an impressive background with Google, Hulu and American Idol, is due to start in the role from March 3.
Tonight’s Oscars ceremony is also surrounded by controversy, particularly regarding the film Emilia Perez.

The movie about a sex change Mexican cartel boss has received 13 nominations and was expected to dominate the awards.
Its transgender star, Karla Sofia Gascon, has been criticised for previously posting racist comments on social media.
Gascon is nominated for Best Actress, a historic first for a transgender woman.
A source inside the Academy of Motion Pictures said she “had been favourite to win Best Actress until she torpedoed her chances.”

The controversy has cast a shadow over what would have been a groundbreaking moment in Oscars history.
With Gascon’s chances diminished, Demi Moore has emerged as the new favourite to win Best Actress for her role in “The Substance”.
The Best Picture category is also highly competitive this year. “Anora”, a film about a stripper who marries a Russian oligarch’s son, is tipped as the frontrunner.
However, “Conclave”, which depicts the process of selecting a new pope, remains a strong contender.
