Amanda Holden, a judge on Britain’s Got Talent, has spoken out about an amusing gaffe she made during her Heart Breakfast show on Thursday (February 27).
Jamie Theakston, her co-host, brought up the incident the following day, mentioning that “we have had a couple of messages” about Amanda’s unusual pronunciation of the word ‘trounced’.
Despite pronouncing it with an ‘Australian accent’ and adding a ‘ch’ sound at the end, Amanda light-heartedly reassured listeners that she understood the word’s meaning, stating: “I knew what I meant. I’ve got an A-level in English believe it or not.”
This recent exchange between Jamie and Amanda comes just over a month after Jamie returned to the show following his diagnosis and treatment for stage one Laryngeal cancer, also known as throat cancer. During Jamie’s five-month absence, Amanda was joined by Jason King on their Heart radio show.

Amanda made her television comeback last Saturday with the premiere of the new series of Britain’s Got Talent on ITV. Amanda, Simon Cowell, and Piers Morgan have been presenting the show since its inception in 2007, following the debut of its American counterpart a year earlier.
In this year’s edition of the talent competition, Amanda shares the panel with Simon Cowell, Alesha Dixon, and Bruno Tonioli.
In addition to her judging role on Britain’s Got Talent and co-hosting duties on Heart Breakfast, Amanda has become a familiar face in British households over the years. She’s made numerous guest appearances on ITV shows such as Lorraine and This Morning.
Amanda has also earned acclaim for her stage work, particularly her performance in the West End production of Thoroughly Modern Millie, which garnered her a nomination for the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actress in a Musical. More recently, she teamed up with comedian Alan Carr for their show, Amanda and Alan’s Italian Job, where they endeavour to breathe new life into dilapidated properties in Italy.
The celebrity pair returned to our screens last month, showcasing their renovation prowess in Spain.
Britain’s Got Talent will be broadcast on ITV at 7pm this evening (March 1).
