A bike rider is fighting for his life in hospital after a crash with a car. The motorcyclist was taken to hospital following the collision on the A359 near Castle Cary in Somerset.
The collision happened just after 1pm this afternoon and emergency services were called to the scene. In a post on X (Twitter ) the force warned road users to seek alternative routes as the area between the junction with the A371 and Caryedge Lane is closed while police investigate the incident.
Now the force has confirmed that the rider is in hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries. They said: “We were called at 1.08pm today (Saturday March 1) after a collision involving a motorbike and a car on the A359, near Castle Cary.
“Officers attended, alongside the ambulance service, and the rider of the motorbike has been taken to hospital with injuries that are believed to be potentially life-threatening.
“The road is closed between its junctions with the A371 and Caryedge Lane. It is expected to remain closed for several hours while enquiries take place.”
Police have asked anyone who may have witnessed the collision or have any dashcam footage of it, to call 101 and give the call handler the reference number 5225053511.
