Gladiators enthusiasts were left underwhelmed when they spotted a major issue despite one contestant’s claim of creating ‘history’. The BBC’s successful Gladiators reboot has captured audiences since its season two debut.
In the episode broadcast on March 1, Bradley and Barney Walsh graced our screens to commence the quarter-final’s first round. Viewers watched as contenders vied for semi-final positions, challenging each other in events including the formidable Hang Tough.
Yet, the spotlight was on Legend, or Matt Morsia, famed for his Hang Tough invincibility, never having lost points in this event before. However, in a twist during the latest episode, challenger Joe managed to triumph over Legend, marking the first time Legend faced defeat in the challenge, according to the Mirror.
Disappointed, Legend urged for another attempt, proclaiming to the audience: “I need another go. If I get on there again I’m telling you, it won’t happen again.”
He followed with a call-to-action: “In fact, who would like to see me go up again right now?” Mus rose to the occasion for a rematch with Legend, reports Nottinghamshire Live.
Unfortunately for Legend, the second attempt ended similarly, as Mus sped through the course. Barney lauded Mus, saying: “That is quite possibly the best Hang Tough performance I have ever seen.”
Barney Walsh playfully ribbed his fellow Gladiators competitor Legend after his twin defeats on the show, calling him a “Legend. Two losses in a row. Double loss legend we like to call you in this situation.”

Despite the setback, Legend kept up his spirits in the locker room, claiming, “That’s the first time anyone’s ever done two back-to-back Hang Toughs. I’ve made history. I’ve literally made history.”
In the background, a colleague teased, “Under the title ‘Double-Loss Legend.'” Meanwhile, viewers chimed in on social media, with one pointing out on X (previously known as Twitter), “#Gladiators Legend making history by doing back-to-back Rings? …I remember the master. Saracen. Is he regularly done back to backs? .”
Another reacted, “LEGEND: ‘That’s the first time anyone’s ever done back-to-back Hang Tough’ They did it in the original series all the time.”
A third said, “Legend, nah not a patch on the original hang tough king – can’t remember Sara being beaten #Gladiators.”
while someone else quipped, “BREAKING: Legend is to be renamed Loser due to his double Hang Tough loss.”
Another added, “‘first time doing back-to-back hang toughs’ and the first one to lose as well you’ve lost bragging rights with that, Legend #Gladiators.”
