Nationwide Building Society is the latest high street financial institution to be hit by a banking app outage with customers unable to access payments.

On its website, the building society gave an update to its service status, and warned members that incoming and outgoing payments could be delayed.

“Sorry for any problems this may cause. We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as we can,” Nationwide stated.

“Here’s what you might need to know: Some payments to and from your account are delayed at the moment.

“If you’ve sent money already or are waiting for money to arrive you don’t need to do anything, it’s in a queue and will arrive ASAP. You can still send money, but this won’t go through straight away Direct Debits and standing orders are working normally.”

However, Nationwide Building Society highlighted what customers can do if they have been impacted by this latest error.

The lender noted that members can continue to move cash between accounts, use cards online and in shops, log-in to our Internet Bank and Banking app and withdraw money at cash machines.

Taking to social media, customers shared their frustration over being unable to access payments due to the app outage.

One member asked the building society: “App down? Transferred money from my Nationwide account to another, still hasn’t arrived.
