The Chase star Shaun Wallace was left in awe during the most recent instalment of the ITV show. On Friday’s episode, host Bradley Walsh welcomed four contestants to the programme, all hopeful of winning some cash.

During the show, the contestants discovered they’d be taking on Shaun ‘The Dark Destroyer’ Wallace. However, the quizzing star was quick to notice an unusual theme with all of their names.

He said: “I thought you’d notice that today’s an Oscar-themed day.” As Bradley read aloud each of their names, it was clear he couldn’t find the resemblance.

Shaun added: “All of the contestants on today’s show share a name with this year’s Oscar nominees. You’ve got Demi Moore, you’ve got Timothée Chalamet, you’ve got Karla Sofía Gascón, and you’ve got Adrien Brody – who I think is going to win the Oscar this year.”

Impressed by his quick spot of the link between their names, the host replied: “Well, there you have it!”

The first three contestants managed to get through each of their rounds, securing a total of £14,000 in the cash pot for the final Chase. Taking on Shaun last was 33-year-old Demi.

After earning £4,000 in her cashbuilder round, at the table, it seemed as though she relied on luck. Bradley asked: “Which of these car manufacturers was founded in the 19th century?”

The options were either Ferrari, Fiat or Ford with Demi confessing she didn’t know and chose Fiat. With it being the correct answer, Shaun jokingly got up from his spot and said: “I’m off.”

Despite an impressive cashbuilder, Demi was sent home and it was Adrian, Carla and Timothy left to face Shaun. However, he was impressed by their earlier rounds as he complimented their ‘Oscar-winning performance’

With a three-step head start, they were given two minutes on the clock to try and set a high target.

In the end, they managed to get 11 questions right, setting a target of 14 for Shaun to beat. However, Shaun confessed the questions they were given weren’t easy.

When it was time for the chaser to answer his questions, he managed to catch them with 12 seconds left on the clock. Speaking about their performance, Shaun said: “It’s just another day at the Oscars.”

The Chase continues weekdays on ITV from 5pm.
