It’s a lawsuit so juicy that it sounds like a reality TV plotline.
And it even involves a pair of reality TV stars.
Former NFL all-pro wide receiver Stefon Diggs has filed a lawsuit against Mia Jones claiming that he was the victim of an extortion attempt and was attacked by the Basketball Wives Orlando star.
Diggs, who is a free agent after playing for the Houston Texans during the 2024 NFL season, alleges he was punched in the chest by Jones, “threatened with a deadly weapon” and was the victim of a “tale of abuse to extort millions of dollars,” the Houston Chronicle reported.
Diggs’ lawyer, Kent Schaffer, described the wide receiver’s relationship with Jones as “casual,” taking place in the months before an alleged June 7 incident cited in the lawsuit.
The suit is seeking damages related to “defendant misconduct and the destruction of his property.”
The six-count lawsuit against Jones — also known as Mulan Hernandez — listed Brianna ‘Brii’ Mack as a defendant.
The suit claimed the two women destroyed property at Diggs’ apartment and “refused to leave.”
The four-time Pro Bowler’s lawsuit alleges that Jones attacked him, hitting him in the chest and trying to punch him in the head.
The lawsuit also claims that the reality star broke a wristwatch — which TMZ reported was worth US$130,000 — as well as a PC gaming system. The two women also are alleged to have thrown Diggs’ phone in the toilet and attempting to extort money from him.
“There were threats coming from (Jones) that he had to pay her money or she was going to go public and ruin his career,” Schaffer told the Chronicle. “We’re kind of at the point where the threats have to stop. That’s why the decision was made to go ahead and file (the lawsuit).
“At some point it just has to end.”
Diggs played in eight games for the Texans last season before suffering a season-ending torn ACL.
He played the first five seasons of his career with the Minnesota Vikings before being traded to Buffalo, where he would go on to make four straight Pro Bowl appearances.
During his first season with the Bills in 2020, he led the NFL in receptions (127) and receiving yards (1,535) while being named a first-team NFL all-pro.
